Impact Investing is an exciting and rapidly growing industry powered by investors determined to generate social and environmental impact as well as financial returns.
RobMac have always valued good corporate governance and the benefits of shareholder activity. We see many of our preferred investment managers embedding this into their processes.
The 70’s saw the launch of socially responsible investment funds most notably the Stewardship Fund which was the go-to ethical investment of the day. Investments were chosen on an exclusion basis – no weapons, no animal experiments, no tobacco, slavery or gambling and laterally industries such as gaming, fossil fuels, nuclear power and so on.
We now see a new trend developing where managers are investing in companies with the intention of marketing the power of capital for good.
For example; inclusion and education; environment and resource needs, health care and quality of life and addressing the needs of the world’s poorest people.
We think most of our clients are in tune with these important matters, our portfolios have always taken these considerations into account.
Now we are working to make impact investing a key component of our portfolios.
